CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE)

Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

  • Manufacturing Machining Technician - Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

The Manufacturing Machining Technician Associate of Applied Science prepares students to produce manufactured products. The program includes instruction in manual and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine operations, production line operations, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and quality control.

The degree benefits students who are new to design and machining technology and those currently in the field seeking to expand skills and increase career opportunities. Students who have a non-technology career in another field may find this degree ideal for cross training into CNC and CAD/CAM manufacturing.

  • Welding - Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

The Associate of Applied Science in Welding is a culmination of the career pathway and one-year certificates of completion. Emphasis is on structural welds that include multiple positions and fabrication. Students will weld overhead, vertical, and cylindrical pipe. All welding methods are used. Students also use destructive testing methods of welds.

Along with welding, the degree allows electives that can be taken in the machine shop. Students can take manual or computer numerical control (CNC) classes in machining.

Career Pathway Certificate of Completion (CPCC)

  • Manufacturing Technician - Career Pathway Certificate of Completion (CPCC)

The Manufacturing Technician Career Pathway Certificate of Completion gives students entry-level manufacturing skills by means of basic blueprint reading, basic use of lathe, mill, drill press, bandsaw, and an orientation on solid modeling computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering. It also introduces stick welding to help students decide on a path to welding or machining.

Many of this certificate's credits can be applied to the Manufacturing CNC Machine Operator One-Year Certificate of Completion, Welding One-Year Certificate of Completion, Welding Associate of Applied Science, and Manufacturing Machining Technician Associate of Applied Science.
