Pre-apprenticeship is designed for: Anyone from high school students to adult learners needing fundamental trade skills. Explore the Certificate.
Become employable in as little as three weeks while receiving a hands-on, foundational education in the trades. These Oregon Bureau of Labor & Industries (BOLI)-approved training sessions give students an introduction to different skilled trades. Students acquire both essential tool experience and soft skills, such as safety training.

Apprenticeship is designed for: Those who have completed Pre-apprenticeship; learners seeking skilled trade experience, perhaps transitioning to a new field.
Earn while you learn: apprenticeship is an education that pays students to learn. Apprentices take their training or career in the skilled trades to the next level, combining classroom studies with on-site work at a local employer.
Step One
The first step learners need to take before beginning as an Apprentice at COCC is to connect with and be hired by one of COCC's industry partners. These companies work closely with the College, and their Apprentices can register and take Oregon Bureau of Labor & Industries (BOLI)-approved courses at COCC while also learning on the job with their employer.

Step Two
Once you have been accepted as an apprentice with your employer, your Apprenticeship committee will provide you with relevant COCC course information. If you encounter any issues while applying or registering for courses at COCC, contact apprenticeship@cocc.edu.
Available apprenticeships: Industrial maintenance millwright, limited maintenance electrician, manufacturing plant electrician, sheet metal, carpenter, and more.
Whether you're interested in becoming a carpenter, an electrician, a millwright, or one of many other skilled, in-demand roles, Apprenticeship at COCC has options for all stages of learning. We also offer essential sponsorships from local employers to help you make important industry connections and earn hands-on experience. You'll fit right in — whether you're an experienced tradesperson looking to add new skills or you're a first-time student looking to begin a career in the skilled trades.
