Meet Our Coach

Max Bennett
Head Coach
Before college, Max Bennett had never played a contact sport. He was pretty skinny, not particularly fast, and didn't see himself as the rugby type. But his friends convinced him to give it a try, and that decision changed his life. Through rugby, Max discovered strengths he didn't know he had, including toughness, discipline, grit, and self-confidence. As a founding member of the COCC Rugby Club and the inaugural team captain in 2012, Max brings a deep connection and passion for the program. Now, as Head Coach, his mission is to help other young players experience these same life-changing benefits.
To prospective players:
"Playing rugby in college is, in my opinion, the best decision any college student can make. By joining the COCC team, you're becoming part of something special - a community of hundreds of COCC Rugby alumni, many of whom still live in Central Oregon and remain closely connected. It's not just a sport; rugby is a local and global brotherhood that offers lifelong friendships and a supportive network."
