Retiree Benefits Information

Benefited employees who have worked for the College for at least 10 years in a benefited position, who are not Medicare-eligible, between ages 55–64, and who are a retired PERS (Public Employees Retirement System) member, may continue group health benefit coverage for themselves and their enrolled eligible dependents upon retirement. Coverage through medical, dental, and vision plans must be continuous or coverage will be dropped. Eligible retirees will be provided information from the HR Benefits Administrator about the option of self-pay benefits through the Oregon Educators Benefits Board (OEBB) after retirement from COCC.

Retiring Employee Insurance Requirements:

Employees on an academic year contract or working less than a 12-month employment contract that does not include work during one or more summer months, and who are expected to return to employment on or before the start of the fall semester are eligible to maintain health insurance coverage through the summer months by prepaying the employee portion of their benefit deductions.

Employees are ineligible for continued health insurance coverage when employment is terminated or an employee retires at the end of the academic year and when there is not an expectation to return to a benefited employment status for the fall term and/or the employee does not have a summer appointment.
