Health Career Programs
Madras Campus
Following a transformative expansion, Central Oregon Community College now offers health education programs at the Madras Campus, providing students with expanded access to in-demand health care training beyond the Bend Campus.
COCC’s Madras Campus is home to Nursing, Nursing Assistant, and Medical Assistant programs, delivered in a modern campus building that includes a state-of-the-art Nursing laboratory. Students also receive hands-on training through partnerships with St. Charles–Madras Hospital and long-term care facilities in the Madras area, gaining valuable real-world clinical experience close to home.

Nursing
COCC's Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program prepares students for a dynamic and rewarding career in health care.
Nursing is a selective admissions program and students must first complete prerequisite coursework. Prospective students are encouraged to attend a Nursing Program Information Session for details on program requirements, timelines and next steps.
Nursing prerequisite courses are available in Madras or through hybrid and online formats, providing flexible options for students balancing school, work and family responsibilities. Additional application requirements must also be met.
The Madras Nursing cohort consists of a small group of students to support hands-on learning and individualized instruction. Admissions priority is given to residents of Jefferson County or members of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, followed by students from Crook County and then the remainder of the college’s district. Full details are available in the Nursing Selective Admissions Handbook.

Nursing Assistant
COCC's Nursing Assistant program prepares students to become certified nursing assistants (CNAs), supporting patients with daily living and health care needs as part of a collaborative care team under direct supervision.
The Nursing Assistant option is a one-term, 7-credit course offered at the Madras Campus. Enrollment is first come, first served and students must meet eligibility requirements. Class sizes are intentionally small to support hands-on training and individualized instruction.

Medical Assistant
The COCC Medical Assistant (MA) program trains students for a high-demand, entry-level health care career in a variety of clinical settings.
The MA program is a one-year certificate of completion offered at the Madras Campus. Students gain foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to work in outpatient clinics, medical offices and other health care environments.
Registration is first come, first served once students complete 10-12 prerequisite credits and meet other entrance requirements.
