Permanent Collections
The Library collects art in a variety of media, including painting, printing, sculpture, metal work, artists' books, ceramics, photography, and more. Many of the pieces are by students and faculty. The permenent collection is displayed year-round throughout the Library spaces on COCC campuses.
Updegraff Typewriter Collection

This typewriter collection, displayed on the main floor of the Barber Library, represents a portion of Mr. Joe M. Updegraff's collection. Mr. Updegraff was an instructor at Central Oregon Community College from 1966 to 1967.
Until the time of his death in 1968, he had collected and restored over 250 machines from all over the United States, making it the then-largest known private collection.

Student Artwork

Every year, the Faculty Forum and Barber Library purchases artwork by COCC students. Student photographs, paintings, and sculptures can be seen on display on both the first and second floors of the Barber Library in Bend and the Student Commons in Redmond.
Bentley Mineral Collection

The gemstones and minerals in this collection, displayed in cases on the main floor of the Barber Library in Bend, were donated to COCC in December 1977. Dr. Robert (Bob) D. Bentley was a Professor of Geology at Central Washington University from 1969 to 1997.
