Bring your lunch and curiosity to the Hub, by Citizens4Community, in downtown Sisters for an engaging midday break where learning meets connection. Join COCC Community Education on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (Sept - Nov) for presentations on topics ranging from area watersheds, to geology of Central Oregon, to travel and beyond. Leave these Lunch and Learn sessions with insights into local, national and international landscapes and a desire to learn more! Your registration is good for all sessions, Sept - Nov.

SPEAKER: Brian Metolius

Brian is a composer for film and theater based in Sisters, Oregon. Most notably he wrote the music for the off-Broadway production, “Puffs: Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” and the Nebula film “The Dinner Plan”.

TITLE:  Wildfire and Birds 

As we try to cope and adapt to wildfires, so do the feathered members of our community. A brief overview of the latest science, observations, and predictions relating to birds and wildfire activity.  

SPEAKER: Sevilla Rhoads 

Sevilla is a local bird enthusiast who provides customized bird outings and programs with a focus on accessibility of all kinds. Sevilla is registered as a guide in Oregon and is a Certified Accessible Birding Outing Leader. Sevilla’s mission is to remove as many barriers as possible to ensure everyone can get outside to experience awe and wonder in nature.

TITLE:  The Underdogs: Central Oregon’s Wolves

A brief overview of the history, biology, and status of local wolf packs.  

SPEAKER: Anders Rhoads 

Anders is a student at Sisters High School. He interns with the High Desert Museum in the Wildlife Watch program where he helps gather data about wolves and other animals
